Off to Boston!!

Ok guys, I'm off to Boston tonight (Cos I seem to spend half my life going to and from there!) so I shall bring back tales and piccies. I also promise to stop with the quotes, that laziest form of blogging ever! Just one more before I jet off!

“Never stop exploring. If you are not constantly pushing yourself, you are leading a numb existence.”

My Wednesday...

Drinks in the sun with colleagues that are fast becoming friends
Ducks quacking at us for pieces of sandwich
Little emails from the cool kid that was nice to me
My hair, done beautifully by Lovely Eleni
My blue dress
booking meetings, booking meetings
Printing off my flight details for Boston
Feeling nervous, nervous, nervous
but
Wednesday was a good day. X

Beach Circuits

I just did this during my lunch break...

We are so lucky at the University of Bath that we have great sports facilities, not an actual beach tho! we did our circuits on the volleyball pitches. Still, running (and rolling) around in the sun+sand was very pleasant, if very sweaty work!

We did cardio - Running, leg work - squats and lunges, and arm work - dips and lifts with sandbags, and some ab work too. I was thoroughly knackered by the end but did enjoy it, also trying to get all of that sand off before I got back to the office was tricky!

......Make Lemonade

Now I'm not one to impart advice or anything, I very rarely consider myself knowledgeable enough about anything to advise others on it. However I am more than happy to tell you about what I'm up to, as I adjust to single life, and maybe that might be useful.

Numbers of weeks I have been single: 2.5

So as you can imagine still feeling very sore about the whole thing. However I am pleased with my ability to 'turn Lemons in Lemonade' as it were. Each time I have found myself down I have done something to pick myself up again for example:

On Monday I had a bit of a cry as a book I had ordered for ex-Mr Fields' birthday arrived. So I called Eleni and we went out for lunch at the lovely Wild Cafe. Also I had organised a trip to London to see a play for Mr fields' birthday, not wanting the money I'd spent to go to waste I invited and old friend to meet me in London and we had a lovely time at the Donmar Warehouse and, the BBQ joint to end all BBQ joints: Bodeans. So while I do miss him terribly, I am doing very well at keeping myself occupied!

Also I am delighted that in the last 2.5 weeks I have:
  • Booked tickets for a Secret Tea Party, a Prohibition cocktail party and a Midsummer ball
  • Set the date for my housewarming party
  • Had cocktails at Opium bar with Sarah, Eleni and Verity
  • Been to the beautiful wedding of Kev + Kim, two of my most favouritist people
  • Sat in Kingsmead square in the sunshine drinking tea with Eleni
  • Had drinks and nibbles in the Ring O' Bells with Sarah
  • Been to see Sarah sing at the old farmhouse pub, what a voice she has!
  • Had gin cocktails with Mary-Anne
  • Blagged a free gym pass and went to the gym on a Sunday
  • Eaten a picnic and read a book in the Parade Gardens
  • Been to a 'beer festival' hosted by the lovely Sarah and Johnny
  • Had drinks in the sun with two of my favourite co-workers

I've done so much and already can see that my life has very swiftly become much more how I would like it to be, full of friends and fun and unexpected little adventures.

Fire

"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all.

Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle.

The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours."

- Ayn Rand (She was a novelist, philosopher, playwright, and screenwriter)

Be Busy

More of a temporary salve than a goal, but in an attempt to best deal with being single and miserable after the end of a 2 year relationship. I am being busy!

So far:
Weekend of 5/6th May: went to a lovely wedding of Kev+Kim. A perfect day
Tuesday: Applied for a new job at the University, coffee and cake after work with lovely Eleni
Wednesday (Today): Pilates at lunchtime and going to the Ballet with Dadsy this evening
Thursday: Yoga at lunchtime and Headhunters at the cinema, because who doesn't love a bit of gritty Swedish crime thriller (no one I'm sure)
Friday: Hole up in my new place with a dvd, tomorrow is going to be exhausting
Saturday: Officially moving out of the lovely flat me + Mr Fields shared.
Sunday: Breakfast at the wild cafe? I'll have earnt it! and going to see Sarah sing at the Old Farmhouse Pub

Next week.....W.I Meeting, and I think tea with the girls is in order.

Starting all over again

"For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

Thank you F. Scott Fitzgerald, these are soothing words for my weary heart today, I don't feel very strong, or proud, but I am having to start all over again, and it's rubbish.
