Friday

Something that happens when I am feeling down is that I am almost crippled by indecision, I just cannot focus on or decide anything, and feel very panicked about this: when in fact it will make no huge difference to my life if I don't make a decision about Las Vegas this weekend, book a yoga retreat or finish my essay.

This is a trait I get from my mother; the feeling that I should always be doing something, reacting to things, So this afternoon I will try and breath, and relax...

And rememeber that in 4 weeks I will be here:

Lake Windemere with my Bath Pals

And in 6 weeks here:
Lyndhurst New forest with my Portsmouth Pals

May will be bringing some delightful adventures with all my favourite people :)

New Adventures

I may have had a bit of a whine here that I have no one to travel to New Orleans with me but I am terribly lucky in the adventures I now have lined up:

June: With Mum, Dad, Brother, Sister in law and baby niece
August: With Mum for our annual american trip
May: with my wonderful friends Eleni, Steve, Sarah and Johnny :)

Solo Travel

I sat with a girl called Rosie in the marketing office today, helping her stuff envelopes for 2 hours, we got to talking and we found that going to New Orleans was on both our travel wish lists. I almost begged her to agree that we go together!

I always think that one of the greatest things about having a significant other is that you have an adventure partner at your permanent disposal, whereas the single traveller has to seek out people to travel with (I know some people are more than happy to travel alone - but it does make things more enjoyable and somewhat safer to travel with a companion)

So last year when Sarah suggested Amsterdam and Mary-Anne agreed to Stockholm I sure as hell jumped at these chances. I do worry, I worry that when my friends settle down and buy houses and have children they will be less inclined to join me on such adventures. I worry I won't find someone prepared to drive around America with me, go to Istanbul with me, the Nile, Miami, Japan, the Maharajas Express, Hawaii....
I sound something like a spoilt child here! expecting people to accompany on all my travel whims, but really I suppose I would just really like someone to enjoy these adventures with: hence wrangling anyone who mentions somewhere they would like to travel!

Also I'm sure there is a lesson here about taking every opportunity, taking every offer to visit people in foreign climes, and maybe take on a few more solo adventures. As I suppose much as it may scare me, far better to travel to these places alone: than not at all....

Sunday

I've spent all day at home working on my 2nd unit essay and all I seem to have achieved is a slightly questionable sketch of the circulatory system and a job application, and booked a holiday to Chicago. (ok the Chicago trip is pretty cool! and the job is awesome) So I suppose its not too shabby!

March Madness

My word! March is almost upon us, work is terribly busy but I trundle on.

Here is some fun Maths based very loosely on Goal 48. (To not buy any clothes for 1 year (01/01/12 to 01/01/13) that didn't quite pan out. and 50. (never stop having adventures)

I wanted this Dress from the amazing shop Deadly is the Female for £135

However my friends Suz invited me to London for this:

So instead I am taking a day off work, using the £135 to travel to London, going to the private view and staying in this hotel

Which I think you'll agree is a far more exciting adventure than buying the dress :)

February!!

My word Darlings, here we are in February! January 2013 went in the blink of an eye!

What I have achieved in January

First assessment submitted for my animal care course, intro month of CrossFit completed (we re-did our first challenge: I did it in 8 minutes 2nd time around), applied for 3 jobs, and one voluntary post at my local museum (just because it sounds interesting) Signed up to another dating website, ate Paleo (about 70/30 I'd say) organised a dinner party, had a cocktail night, signed up for 'Tough Mudder' - I'll come back to this one in another post - this certainly fulfils that resolution of surprising myself!, been to a RSRCA Trustee meeting, played poker with my friends, and put half my paycheck into savings.

I also wanted to take some time to be grateful for all the things I already have, In my quest for achievement!

1) I live in one of the most glorious cities in the world. The delightful Initforthehoney has some beautiful images of Bath from this weekend, she's right, there's something about the sunny evening light here: its the stuff of dreams. (As well as being small and cosy, fun and quirky, safe and a bit Bohemian). I've lived in some great cities in my time but Bath was were I think I really grew up, at university, so inevitably myself and my heart will always be Bath shaped!

2) I have some of the most amazing friends anyone could ever ask for in this lovely city, with friends like these: I must be doing something right!

So to summarise: I'm doing good :) achieving lots and taking time to appreciate all I have
